Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. This style of practice gives you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body while in mainly seated poses held anywhere from 90 seconds to 7 minutes. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga, yin yoga moves away from the engagement of the muscles and deep into the fascia that surrounds the muscles.
The class will be a delicious 75 minutes of easing into stillness with pranayama (breathwork), guided meditation and a yin yoga practice along with dimmed lights to sense into the practice along with healing music gently playing in the background. At times, Marie may bring in a singing bowl or two to aid in deepening your practice.
What to Bring
Yoga mat, blanket, bolster, yoga blocks.
